Nature’s bounty: Children from the Klukwan School display the school garden’s bounty in 1911. The yield that year included “55 sacks of potatoes, 500 pounds of turnips and rutabagas, besides lettuce, peas, parsnips, carrots, beets, rhubarb, cabbage, etc.” After 90 years of dormancy, the school garden is growing again in the same place and the Chilkat Indian Village also has a large community garden program.
