After a dozen years of using the same logo, designed by D.J. Robidou, the Sitka Local Foods Network is unveiling a new logo and branding elements.
“Many organizations update their branding elements ever decade or so, and after 12 years it was time for a new look,” Sitka Local Foods Network board president Charles Bingham said. “We wanted a cleaner look to the logo. We’ve been talking about updating our logo for about five years, and now we’re happy to introduce our new look.”
The new logo was designed by Sitka resident Alyssa Russell and former Sitka resident Lisa Gilardi of The Hullabaloo Studio, in collaboration with the Sitka Local Foods Network board of directors. It will be used on SLFN signage, correspondence, and swag.
According to Alyssa and Lisa, “We wanted to create a design that captured the abundance of Sitka’s local foods in a colorful and eye-catching way by choosing elements that represent the wide variety of foods available through fishing, foraging, and cultivation. The items we chose included some of our favorite foraged and grown foods, including salmonberries, blueberries, bull kelp, beets, carrots, chanterelle mushrooms, and salmon.”
The new logo comes in a red and green color version, plus there is a black-on-white version and a white-on-black version we can use on some swag items that can only be run in a single-color format, such as water bottles or berry buckets. The SLFN hopes to have new tote bags for sale in time for the Sitka Farmers Market this summer (we still have a limited number of last year’s tote bags that will be available until we sell out of them).
